BE EVER WONDERFUL
This is my contribution to the mural project to honor the Moulin Rouge Hotel and Casino. The hotel and casino once stood at 900 West Bonanza Road, Las Vegas, NV.
I refuse to memorialize Black death and trauma. I think of Black people as alive & thriving. This small mural is titled, “Be Ever Wonderful” after a track by Earth Wind & Fire. I rendered the figure in warm tones to acknowledge the powerful Black women that performed at the Moulin Rouge. Described as “The Most Beautiful Copper Gals on Earth”
There are also a few Adrinka symbols dancing about the composition to acknowledge those that continue to walk with us.
This mural is dedicated to my Aunt Carla Singleton
